Samson’s step-sister Maggie was one of fraternal twins born to migrant worker parents in a Mexican border town. Maggie stayed in America, moving to Florida to live with cousins, while her brother Miguel returned to Mexico with his parents.
On occasions when Maggie and Sam are home alone and the coast is clear, Miguel is known to pay his twin sister a visit. A tough life in the Mexican desert has left Miguel with the manners of a bandit, a pirate’s appetite for destructive parties, and a Houdini like ability to vanish at the first sign of the authorities.
Although no one has actually seen Miguel north of the border, evidence of his visits are very pronounced and come in the form of overturned garbage cans, pillows and blankets thrown from the couch, and ripped up toiletries dragged through the house for all to see. Needless to say, Maggie is very embarrassed for her brother on these occasions and always demonstrates her joy and relief that we arrive home to scare him off.
The Federales are on his trail and have asked that we document any instances in which Miguel trashes our home to further the case for his capture. From time to time you will see photographic evidence of Miguel’s visits and the destruction left in his wake.
Maggie isn’t sure her brother can be caught and thinks the best approach is to leave piles of treats around the house to appease him. Either way, she just hopes for the best and is proud to be the twin that ended up with self-control.
On this occasion we found an obviously horrified Maggie hiding as far under the bed as possible when we returned home.
